Reflection of Christ

As Christians, we are called to reflect Jesus Christ in all the ways of our life. We must reflect the character of Christ in our work, family and spiritual life.

Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did. 1 John 2:6

Jesus was born and lived among us a common man. During his life he has set examples on how to live a victorious and blessed life. We can see his approach towards various life situations through his life, preaching, teachings etc.

The Holy Bible is all about Love. Jesus Christ is also all about love. Love one another, Love God. This is the basics of a Christian life. So this message is not about love, but about few other day-today situations we face in our life and how it should be addressed based on how Jesus acted in such situations.

Let us analyze an incident which is very common to all of us. Jesus healing a  lady with a “Disease in her blood”. The incident is elaborated in 3 Gospels – Matthew 9:20–22, Mark 5:25–34, Luke 8:43–48.

Jesus was moving amid a huge crowd. He was heading towards the house of Jairus, a synagogue leader where his daughter was dying of sickness. The crowd was almost crushing Jesus.

The woman was suffering with bleeding for twelve years. She spent all her riches for her treatment, but in vain. When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloth, because she thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” Immediately she was healed.

Jesus realized that power had gone out from him. He turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my clothes?” “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ” But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it.Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”

Now let us examine how our Jesus responded in this situation.

1. Sensitivity of Jesus Christ

As we read above, the crowd was huge and Jesus was walking with his disciples in a rush. In spite of the crowd crushing him, Jesus could recognize the touch of the lady who was desperate to get cured. He could recognize the power flowing from him which healed the lady. Jesus was sensitive to the surroundings despite the rush and chaos around. Since he was sensitive, the lady was healed.

Let us ask ourselves how sensitive we are to our surroundings. When we are in this busy life, are we missing out our brothers and sisters around us who are desperate to reach out to us. May be a response from us could open new doors to them which can result in their deliverance. Let us keep all our senses open to see and listen to our fellow beings. Let us be sensitive to the cry of needy around us. Let us be sensitive to the people around us who need support in their physical, mental, spiritual and worldly life.

2. Impartial

We saw that Jesus was moving towards the house of Jairus, a synagogue leader. Definitely Jairus was a respected person who has influence among people in the society. However, the lady who tried to reach Jesus was poor, sick, abandoned, ignored and considered as cursed in the society. But infront of our Lord Jesus, all are equal. All receive equal importance. Even though Jesus was going on an emergency to the house of a synagogue leader, he never ignored the poor in the society.

Jesus Christ demonstrated the perfect example to us in how to treat everyone equal. Let us ask ourselves, how fair are in dealing with the ones who are not in par with us – in terms of wealth  education, health, our co-workers etc. Let us try to follow the example set by our Lord Jesus.

3. Patience – Time for all

We can imagine, how much urgency Jesus had during that journey. Huge crowd, going to the house of a dying child etc. In-spite of this situation, Jesus took time to stop at bleeding lady, who was desperate for healing. Jesus knows, this could be the only and right situation that lady might get. He don’t want to ignore the cry of the afflicted, though he was running on a emergency. Let us set Jesus as the perfect example in how to set time for everything during our busy life.

Let us ask ourselves, do we have enough time for our family, parents, church, our fellow beings in the society etc. Most importantly, do we have time for GOD who gives us all these. Do we have enough time to pray, worship and glorify our God. After-all, God only need us to be thankful and glorify Him in all our ways. Or are we TOO BUSY with our day today activities, which will end with a simple breath. Are we spending enough time and our blessings for His kingdom, so that we will have a place secured in the eternity. Let us ask ourselves again and again.

4. Peace Makers

After healing her from sickness, Jesus leaves the lady with a bonus – The gift of Peace. He bless her “Go in peace”. We can also be peace bearers in all the ways of our life – work place, family, church or playground. We can be peace makers rather than adding oil to a burning fire.

We must ask to ourselves – Are we doing enough to bring peace in the society where I live, or among the people I interact. It is not required to settle a quarreling crowd to be a peace bearer. We can bring peace to others by being a good listener to others issues, being supportive, being caring, offering our prayers to the needy, or even by just being with them when  they feel worried and lonely.

For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son. (Romans 8:29)

Let us set Jesus Christ as our role model in all the ways of our life. Be sensitive and impartial. Manage time properly and find time for everything, most importantly for God. Let us be peace bearers. Let people who look us see reflection of our Lord Jesus in us.

May God bless you all.

Faith, Hope & Love

Excerpt from the message delivered during Friday worship – 27 Oct 2017

Greetings to you all in the precious name of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.

In the book of Thessalonians, Apostle Paul reminds us the importance of Love. In 1 Thessalonians, chapter 1 Paul testifies Thessalonians on their faith, hope & love.

He says that Paul, Silas and Timothy always thank God for all of Thessalonians and continually mention them in their prayers for three specialties about church of the Thessalonian.

  1. Their work produced by their faith
  2. Their labor prompted by love
  3. Their endurance inspired by hope in Lord Jesus Christ

We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers. We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.  1 Thessalonians 1: 2-3

Apostle Paul wrote to Corinthians as below:

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

In this scripture we can see that all the three elements are equally important – faith, hope and love. But the greatest of all these is love. It doesn’t mean that other two are less important. Here Apostle Paul tries to establish the fact that faith and hope will stay till the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever we believe with our faith now, will be visible and experienced when Jesus come back. Our Hope is the 2nd coming of our Lord. Hence faith & hope finishes with the second coming of Lord.

However, love stays even after that. Even in eternity our love to our God remains. Hence he says, of all three faith, hope and love – Love is the greatest.

In verses 1 Thessalonians 1: 6, we can see:

You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 1: 6

In the scripture, we can see that church of Thessalonians, had to go through major sufferings and crisis. However, they remained faithful to God and accepted suffering with joy given by Holy Spirit. It is a message for each one of us. Even in the midst of troubles and sufferings, we should not run away from the love of God. We should have endurance by hope in Lord Jesus Christ.

Again, in Chapter 2, verses 13 we see how the church of Thessalonians received the word of God.

And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is indeed at work in you who believe.  1 Thessalonians 2: 13

As they accepted the word of God not as human, but as word of God itself, the word of God worked in who all believed. As long as word of God remains just as scripture, it cannot produce results. But once those who believe take the scripture as word of God, it will start working for those who believe with strength and Holy Spirit.

Towards the end of chapter 3, Paul reminds how to Love and stay blameless and holy in the presence of God.

May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you. May he strengthen your hearts so that you will be blameless and holy in the presence of our God and Father when our Lord Jesus comes with all his holy ones. 1 Thessalonians 3: 12-13

Dear brothers and sisters, as Paul says, let us love each other and stay blameless as Love is eternal and stays even through our eternity.

May God bless you all.

God’s Love

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

There is no payment equal to the payment Jesus made for us through his crucification to save us.

For what?
To save us from our sins. Whoever believes in Him will be saved and he can enter the kingdom of God.

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again. John 3:3

Bible says, what good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?  Matthew 16:26

A person who is very poor, left with nothing, but still believed in Jesus, accepted him as his saviour and followed Jesus. He is richer than a man who has gained everything in his life, but not his soul.

In life, With Jesus you are a hero. Without Jesus you are a zero.

My dear brothers and sisters, the value of crucification is very high and God gave us this FREE. You cannot pay and get this. It is like oxygen which is required in our life to live and breathe.  A normal person gets this free from our surroundings without any payment. But it is a very costly element. We understand the value of this only when we have breathing difficulty and get admitted in the ICU. You will get a high bill for the oxygen given to you. But God gave us the gift of salvation totally free to save us from our sins.

Repent and accept Jesus Christ as your personal saviour. Accept Him in your hearts, repent about our sins. Come closer to God. Jesus is ready to accept you as in your present situation.

Because the love of God is unconditional.

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.  1 John 4: 9-10

Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. 1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Beloved brothers and sisters, Jesus is ready to give His hands and love to redeem you and take you to heaven. He will come back soon. All present things happening in the world indicate His second coming. But still waiting for everyone to come to repentance.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9

Our God is waiting for you to repent and come closer to God.

A God who repays your lost years

When we think back, very often we realize that we have lost many things in our life – Money, relationships, love, faith, career etc. Or at least we are not where we are supposed to be. But it is possible that many things can come back to us with the passage of time. However, the only thing that cannot be restored is time – The years gone by.

I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten— the great locust and the young locust, the other locusts and the locust swarm — my great army that I sent among you. Joel 2:25

But with God nothing is impossible. As the book of Job says, God can restore your lost years. We might have lost these years due to many reasons in our life – But the bottom line is that we had been away from the love of God.

If we repent and come back to Jesus, he is capable of restoring our lost years. Whatever we lost in our previous years – money, career, faith anything, God can repay you and make you lead a victorious life more than before.

Also, when God restore our lost years, he will do with perfection!.

You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied. Joel 2:26

We will be restored with all blessings and in abundance to our satisfaction.

May God bless you all.

Be of good cheer

Sometimes we ask ourselves – Why I have tribulations in my life or why God allow us to go through tribulations. The word of God clearly says that in the world there will be tribulations. At the same time he strength us with his words to be of “Good Cheer” as we are serving a Lord who have overcome this world.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

Let us look at few things that why God allow us to go through these tribulations:

To have good testimony for others

Once we overcome the tribulations with the grace of God, we need to proclaim our victory to others which will strength the weak and tried to remain in faith.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Rom 8:35

Test of faith

God wants us to be faithful and remain in good faith in his promise. During the tribulations we have a choice to either remain with God or grumble. Book of Job gives us good example for both these situations.

Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die.
But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.
Job 2:9-10

Even though his wife wanted to curse God and die, Job remained faithful to God. Ultimate joy & victory was with Job. God blessed in abundantly in all his ways.

To purify us

As we God through difficult situations in life, understand that we are going through a purification process. He is refining us in such a way that our impurities are removed so that we can stand pure in front of God.

Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.
Isaiah 48:10

And finally we have a reward once we overcome this world.

If we remain faithful and put our trust in God during our time of tribulations, we can overcome everything of this world. Then we have a great promise from God.

To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Revelation 3:21

May God bless you all.

Why are you so afraid?

There are times when we feel like sinking ourselves in the world though we are moving based on God’s commands. In such situations, the word of God says – NOT TO BE AFRAID!.

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.
Matthew 8:26

On one evening disciples started in a boat to other side of the river. It was Jesus who said the disciples to start the journey. But on the way a furious squall came up and the boat was about to sink. Though Jesus was in the boat, they have to go through this crisis but since they could not understand how great and powerful our God is, the disciples started to scream and started asking to God – “don’t you care if we drown?”

Of course our lord care for us. He does not want anyone of us to drown. But he tests at times to see how strong we are in our faith.

Be of good faith and stay away from his call – You of little faith, why are you so afraid?

But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
Isaiah 43:1-2

May God bless you all.

Everything possible in Christ

Do we really believe – Everything is possible in Christ OR only Somethings are possible through God.

“If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”
Mark 9:23

When we are going through trials in our life, we often go to God only when all other doors are closed as a last option. We always try to solve issues by ourselves or through in our own ways. This is because our belief is not 100%. We at time feel “Oh, this is such a big issue. We need to solve. What God can do in this situation”? This make us pray by questioning our God “If you can”.

Word of God clearly reminds us “all things are possible to him that believeth”. Only condition is that we should believe. Believe like a blind and we will start experiencing his miraculous deliverance.

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
James 1:6

Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Mark 11:24

May God bless you all.
